DIY Haircut for Long Hair

I have needed a haircut for several weeks now. The place I choose to go to for my haircut is not on my side of town and I always feel guilty about spending so much money. I usually put it off as long as I can.

This past Friday I was on Pinterest and I was searching for "being thankful" ideas and somehow I came across a DIY haircutting video. After viewing it I decided that I should search the internet for other DIY haircutting videos. Long story short, I decided I would try a DIY haircut on Saturday.

I took pics of myself going through the process so you could be a little entertained. The pics aren't that great cause the mirrors were both dirty but you can at least get the idea. :)

First a pic of my hair before I started the haircut. (didn't wash it on this day and my bangs are clipped back)

All you need for this haircut is a brush, two ponytail elastics, and scissors.

It is best for hair to be straight.
1. Make a ponytail near your forehead using one of the elastics.
2. Place the second elastic on the ponytail at the length you want your shortest layer.
3. Cut straight across just below your second elastic.
4. Cut INTO the hair at the end of the ponytail until you have no sharp, straight ends. (about 3-4 minutes.)

I didn't take off that much hair. Maybe I'll go shorter next time. :)

5. Take out elastics, fluff it, and it's done. :)

And here is what it looks like when it is curled...

There you have it. It isn't the BEST haircut I've ever had but it certainly isn't the worst. :) AND doing it myself saved me $50.

Side by side pics...

Below you can watch one of the Youtube videos I watched before doing this haircut.

Bible in 90 Days- 2013

Last year I had a group that joined me in reading our entire Bible in 90 days. I'm planning on doing the challenge again this year starting at the beginning of January. If you are interested in joining my team let me know. If you were successful last year you might consider starting your own team.

Going to my happy place...

It appears it's been about 14 months since I did one of these things. Tonight I find myself awake at 2:30am with lots on my mind and lots of caffeine in my system. FYI- it's not a good idea to drink coffee a few hours before bed time. :/
In an effort to get all the trials of life out of my head and perhaps get a little sleepy, I'm gonna go to a happy place. A place where life is much more simple and I can see the blessings instead of all of these clouds.

Outside my window... it is a lovely, cool evening.

I am thinking... about lots of stuff. Predestination, CHOSEN? What does it mean to love the Lord with your MIND? I should review the praise team songs for Sunday before practice tomorrow night. I need to memorize 5 verses tonight in order to be where I wanted to be at this point in my scripture memorization. How can I help/encourage my husband in his devotional life? I need to do laundry. I don't love homeschooling. I need to fix the Garnet website. Apple picking with my kindred spirit and her family. Life is hard and when things come up and SMACK you in the face out of nowhere it's great to have the Lord on your side and carrying you through. Will Target pharmacy ever get my prescription right? (Two nights without a pill.)

I am thankful for... God's Grace.

From the kitchen... Tonight my Dad came over for dinner. We had Crunchy Southwest Chicken Wraps. DELICIOUS!!! If you follow me on Pinterest I have this recipe pinned.

I am wearing... gray sweat pants and a plum long-sleeved tee.

I am creating... nothing.

I am going... to get up early tomorrow and have my devotions with Mike before he goes to work.

I am reading... Teach Them Diligently AND Feminine Appeal.

I am hoping... my fingernails don't get ruined when I go to bed in a little bit. I didn't wait long enough between coats.

I am looking forward to... Heaven.

I am hearing... Mandisa. I LOVE her newest CD.

One of my favorite things... sitting in the living room with my husband, our Bibles open, discussing/researching Biblical issues. Seriously. I dreamed of this when I was younger.

Praying for... a brand new day, with a fresh start. Peace in my heart. My Grandma & Grandpa Weakland. Pastor Ron. Mimi. My husband. Alison to not say such rude things to people. Peace, faith, & hope. My kitty Siam who I believe is struggling from FLUTD again and that means BAD news for him- the worst news possible for a kitty. :(

A Lyric or Two.. so many songs on my heart but I'll go with Mandisa- Lifeline

Here I am drowning in
A sea of my own choices
Holding to hope by a thread (Yeah)
I'm looking 'round, I'm calling out
Fear pulls me down
When the waters rush over my head

You are my lifeline
You are my rescue
Strength in my weakness
Light in my darkness
You are my safety
Lifter of my head
The air that I need when I can't seem to breathe in
You are my lifeline
You are my lifeline

How many times, how many turns

Will it take 'till I learn
You reach for me in my need (Yeah)
And when I cry I know that I'll
Faithfully find you
When life comes crashing on me

Cause you are my lifeline
You are my rescue
Strength in my weakness
Light in my darkness
You are my safety
Lifter of my head
The air that I need when I can't seem to breathe in
You are my lifeline
You are my lifeline

You're there in my brokenness, in my distress
My rock when I'm strong or when I'm powerless
You hold me in rushing tides when waters rise
And I'll always find

You are my lifeline
You are my rescue
Strength in my weakness
Light in my darkness
You are my safety
Lifter of my head
The air that I need when I can't seem to breathe in
(Repeat once)

You are my lifeline

A verse to share...

But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
Psalm 3:3
