Simple Woman's Daybook 9/29/2013

Haven't done this in a LONG time.

Outside my window... a beautiful evening. It's cool and fresh.

I am thinking... about hardly anything. It's a rare moment when my brain isn't working hard. :)

I am thankful for... a God who loves me despite who I am.

From the kitchen...brownies, buckeyes, and buckeye pretzels. And I didn't make any of them.

I am wearing... black jogging capris, an OSU t-shirt, and some comfy socks.

I am creating... nothing. Aint nobody got time for that.

I am going... to take my nighttime meds, get ready for bed, and start a new book.

I am reading... Even Now by Karen Kingsbury

I am hoping... to get caught up in history tomorrow. (Only two days behind.)

I am looking forward to... Women's Retreat in 4 weeks. Also, Mike bringing me home a new MVNU shirt from Sonfest this weekend.

I am hearing... a snoring husband in the recliner.

One of my favorite things... laying down in my bed, on my pillow, at the end of a long day.

Praying for... myself- that I will love my husband even more than I do today, that I will be the wife that God has called me to be, that I will grow in holiness, that I will have the desire to know and love the Lord more, that my back/hip issue is fixed by the current meds and that the spinal arthritis diagnosis will not control me, that God will use me in major ways even if it means I'm uncomfortable or face difficult times.

A Lyric or Two.. my newest favorite: Mandisa- What Scars are For

(Lyric video below)

These scars aren’t pretty
But they’re a part of me
And will not ever fade away
These marks tell a story
Of me down in the valley
And how You reached in with Your grace
And healed me

They remind me of Your faithfulness
And all You brought me through
They teach me that my brokenness
Is something You can use
They show me where I’ve been and
That I’m not there any more
That’s what scars, that’s what scars are for
what scars are for

Erase, rewind
Wish I could every time
The hurt, the pain cuts so deep
But when I’m weak You’re strong
And in Your power I can carry on
And my scars say that You won’t ever leave

They remind me of Your faithfulness
And all You brought me through
They teach me that my brokenness
Is something You can use
They show me where I’ve been and
That I’m not there any more
That’s what scars, that’s what scars are for

I see it on the cross
The nails You took for me
Scars can change the world
Scars can set me free

They remind me of Your faithfulness
And all You brought me through
They teach me that my brokenness
Is something You can use
They show me where I’ve been and
That I’m not there any more
That’s what scars, that’s what scars are for
You show me that’s what scars are for
What scars are for
What scars are for

A verse to share...
But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:15-16

A picture thought...
My new Scentsy warmer with a new scent inside- sugar cookie. YUMMY!

First Day of School 2013

We started school this past Wednesday. I wasn't very excited about it but it had to be done. :) It was probably the best first day of school we have ever had. I'm learning that I don't have to do every single subject on the first day. This year I decided to gradually introduce each subject. The kids just fell right in line. There was no chaos or stress. Everyone got their stuff done quickly and we were able to forget about school for 20 more hours.

We did start out our day with first day of school pics. I've seen some really cool first day of school pics that included what the kids what to be when they grow up and what their current interests are. Maybe someday I'll get that creative. For now we are sticking to our usual. We took the pics inside this year cause the sun was bothering all of us. Hard not to squint when you've been inside for several hours.

Does this even seem possible? I have a 13 year old? We joined our homeschool co-op when she was only 3. Time has flown by. She is quite the lady these days and is taking two high school credit classes this year.

My sweet, sensitive one. Cares about others and tries to be obedient most of the time. The first to be quiet when it gets chaotic. Very patient.

The collector. I've blogged about his collections before. He's funny and independent. (He wanted me to tell you that starting January 1 he's going to keep track of how many orange cars he sees because you don't see that many orange cars.)

My crazy, silly, funny girl. Funny and loving- when she's in the mood. Always joking. ALWAYS joking. Keeps us on our toes.

My lover. LOVES to cuddle and give kisses. Loves sports and has a fabulous throw in football or baseball. He's so excited to do school. He already writes his name.

Precious little guy that I babysit. He's very brave and has a gorgeous smile. He loves to play with anything with wheels.

The teacher needed her pic also. 36 years old. 9th year homeschooling and still smiling.

  • November: Art Day- Thanksgiving Theme
  • December: ?? Possibly Bricks 4 Kidz, Anthony Thomas Tour, or 104.9 Tour

  • February: Art Day- President Theme
  • March: Main Library Tour
  • April: Olentangy Indian Caverns
  • May: Pinnacle Nursing Home- singing patriotic songs
That's it. I've blogged too long and life is calling. :)
