Reminders to Pray

A blog I never posted from several years back. Was still listed as a draft.

Last year a great man from church, Tom Parsons, died unexpectedly. I remember standing at the kitchen sink doing my dishes when a song came on that I had heard many times before. I never cared for the song and hadn't paid much attention to what it was about. However, this time when the song came on I actually HEARD the words. My heart hurt deeply for my friends who had lost their father and husband. I hurt for the precious children at my church who would be missing their grandfather or not even understand what was going on. I hurt for his many close friends and for all of his church family who would greatly feel his absence. I hurt for all of his facebook friends who looked for his posts daily- some whitty, some serious, but ALL pointing to his Savior.

Every time the song came on after that day I was reminded to pray not only for these friends but also for other friends and family who have lost their loved ones. Death hurts. It's deeply painful. Lives are changed forever.

This week is the anniversary of Tom's home-going and also the home-going of a dear friend's father. I was just listening to music while doing the dishes- seems I'm always doing dishes- and that song came on again. I immediately prayed. God is so good to give us reminders to come to Him.
