I had all the school books on the table the night before and all the pages were marked. I was actually looking forward to starting since the kids were so excited. Once we were all sitting at the table though it was very chaotic. Alison needed my undivided attention and Chase wanted to sit on the chairs WITH someone. After about 20 minutes I finally gated Chase in his room and he fell asleep.
Every day after the first has been great... with the first complaining coming yesterday from Abigail when she realized we were ONLY doing Ohio History this year and not our regular history curriculum.
Here are our traditional pics from our first day:
Abigail- 5th Grade
Ethan- 3rd Grade
Blake- 2nd Grade
Alison- Kindergarten
Chase- Class Animal
And of course some pics of them hard at work:
I love my children and am so thankful the Lord has allowed me to stay home and teach them. :)

Ha! I laughed out loud when I saw your caption under Chase's photo. :) Very funny! I'm not planning to do a full year of Ohio history. I figure it isn't THAT different from American history, which we spent a year on before starting chronological history. We do hit historical sites and talk about the history of Ohio, like this week we'll be going to Slate Run farm w/our GEM, the kids have been to some festivals at places like Roscoe Village and a couple museums too. I wonder if this isn't the approach that others usually take, but I think it works. When we did American History, we studied each state, and we spent a little extra time on Ohio. Voila! Ohio history is covered. Haha! Do you think this sounds terrible? Maybe it would work better if your kids really enjoy the history curriculum you were using previously???? I don't know. It's just an idea.
when i taught fourth grade i had to teach ohio history for one quarter each year. i LOOOOOOVE history, but being from michigan, was not so excited about ohio history. ;)
