Chocolate Pumpkin Mousse Cake?

My Honey turned 34 this week. I was going to make him a cake since that is my expertise but then I found a recipe for a delicious pumpkin dessert. I am not a fan of pumpkin/spice/nutmeg things but I love my Yobo and wanted his day to be special.

Ingredients
22 crushed Graham Crackers
1/3 cup melted butter
16 oz. frozen cool whip {thawed} (the large tub)
1 cup pumpkin
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding mix
1 bag (300g) semi sweet chocolate chips
1 cup whipping cream

Crush the graham crackers in a bowl. Pour the melted butter on top of the graham crackers. Mix (or squish together with your hand) until ALL the crackers are coated. You may need to add a touch more melted butter. (If not all the crackers are coated and sticky then when you cut it at the end the crumbs will not hold to the dessert and your crust will not be solid enough.)

Spread the graham crackers/butter mixture in the bottom of a spring form pan (8"-9" pan).
(Notice that mine looks DRY and not coated very well with butter. FAIL! Did not hold together at all. Followed someone else's directions and they were no good. Def. make sure your mixture is sticking together and not dry.)

In your mixer combine the pumpkin, whipped cream, nutmeg, & vanilla pudding mix.

Mix well. It should be light and fluffy.

Spread in the spring form pan on top of the graham cracker crust.

Chill in the freezer for AT LEAST 30 minutes!

Allow whipping cream to come to a boil. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until the chips are melted. Pour the chocolate ganache into the spring form pan on top of the pumpkin mixture.

Put dessert back in the fridge or freezer until you are ready to serve.

Enjoy!!

This is probably the third time recently that I've heard about desserts that combine pumpkin and chocolate. I love pumpkin desserts, and I love chocolate, but I can't get myself to decide if they would be good in the SAME dessert. I think I'll have to try it somewhere before I take the plunge and spend the money on ingredients myself. Did you like it? Did Mike?
