This past Friday I was on Pinterest and I was searching for "being thankful" ideas and somehow I came across a DIY haircutting video. After viewing it I decided that I should search the internet for other DIY haircutting videos. Long story short, I decided I would try a DIY haircut on Saturday.
I took pics of myself going through the process so you could be a little entertained. The pics aren't that great cause the mirrors were both dirty but you can at least get the idea. :)
First a pic of my hair before I started the haircut. (didn't wash it on this day and my bangs are clipped back)

All you need for this haircut is a brush, two ponytail elastics, and scissors.
It is best for hair to be straight.
1. Make a ponytail near your forehead using one of the elastics.
2. Place the second elastic on the ponytail at the length you want your shortest layer.
3. Cut straight across just below your second elastic.
4. Cut INTO the hair at the end of the ponytail until you have no sharp, straight ends. (about 3-4 minutes.)
I didn't take off that much hair. Maybe I'll go shorter next time. :)
5. Take out elastics, fluff it, and it's done. :)
And here is what it looks like when it is curled...
There you have it. It isn't the BEST haircut I've ever had but it certainly isn't the worst. :) AND doing it myself saved me $50.
Side by side pics...
Below you can watch one of the Youtube videos I watched before doing this haircut.

Looks good! And especially if it saves you that much. :) i would never guess you did it yourself! Connie B.cuts her own hair as well. She started about a year ago to save money, but her method is a bit more difficult. This one looks much easier! I'm cheap... i wait for great clips 6.99 sale. ;)
Looks good! My husband has always cut my hair for me, and I cut the kids hair. I can count on one hand the number of times I have been to a salon (Great Clips $4.99-6.99 sale). Like Amy said, I would never have guessed you did it yourself. A much better turn out than when 2 of my kids cut their own hair.

Good job!
It looks beautiful, and that pic of you with the pony tail in the front of your head is fun. :-)
